It will be worth your planning time to choose a few, or more, moments of ‘downtime’ or more relaxed activities.
#1. Discovery Island Trails
Escape the hustle and bustle of the parks and venture into the tranquility of Discovery Island Trails.
Discovery Island Trails surround the Tree of Life at Disney’s Animal Kingdom.
This serene oasis offers scenic nature walks, stunning wildlife encounters, breathtaking views and an escape from the crowds.
It's the perfect spot to unwind and connect with the natural beauty of Walt Disney World.
The shade in this area is great to get out of the sun. Also a nice way to get back into the park after sitting through It’s Tough to be a Bug.
#2. Nomad Lounge
Your trip is a great time to do things you usually don't make time for during your busy week.
Tucked away within Disney’s Animal Kingdom, Nomad Lounge is a hidden gem for those seeking a respite from the excitement.
This cozy lounge boasts a charming ambiance, refreshing cocktails, and a diverse menu of delectable bites.
Enjoy a moment of relaxation while immersing yourself in the enchanting atmosphere.
I would highly recommend ordering the churros. They are absolutely delicious.
#3. Tom Sawyer Island
If you're getting burned out in the Magic Kingdom, you may want to take a break on this hidden gem.
Hop aboard a raft and journey to Tom Sawyer Island, nestled in the heart of the Rivers of America.
This is the perfect spot to get away from the crowds and enjoy a bit of a slower pace.
This secluded island offers a playground of exploration, complete with secret caves, suspension bridges, and hidden trails.
I know you’re probably thinking, “But wait, you told me this was a place to take a break”. It is. But you can also bring those needing to blow off some steam here too.
Unleash your inner adventurer as you uncover the island’s hidden treasures.
#4. Tangled Restrooms
Believe it or not, the Tangled themed restrooms in the Magic Kingdom’s Fantasyland are an enchanting surprise worth visiting.
Step inside and be transported to Rapunzel’s world, adorned with whimsical lanterns, intricate details, and a magical ambiance.
It’s a restroom experience like no other.
I debated whether or not to include this location on the list. I have always enjoyed how it wasn’t crowded in this area, and there were generally no waits.
Between that and how cute the entire themed area is, made me put it on the list.
#5. The Twilight Zone Tower of Terror Courtyard
In Disney’s Hollywood Studios, make your way to the courtyard of the Twilight Zone Tower of Terror.
Take a moment to absorb the eerie atmosphere, marvel at the decaying Hollywood glamor, and snap photos of the vintage cars parked nearby.
It’s a hauntingly beautiful setting perfect for capturing the memories.
Don’t want to ride the Twilight Zone Tower of Terror? No worries, you can check out the courtyard without having to ride if that’s not your thing.
#6. Boardwalk Deli
As you stroll along Disney’s Boardwalk, be sure to stop by the Boardwalk Deli.
This hidden gem offers an array of delectable treats, from freshly baked pastries to mouthwatering sandwiches.
Grab a snack, find a cozy spot by the water, and enjoy the charm of this nostalgic boardwalk setting.
A great spot away from the parks to rest, have tasty treats, and rejuvenate so you can get back to the parks as a new person.
#7. Enchanted Tiki Room
Step into the Enchanted Tiki Room in Magic Kingdom’s Adventureland and discover a hidden gem within a classic attraction.
The Tiki Room features tropical birds, Tiki gods and colorful flowers.
You can sing along in this theater in the round show.
The show lasts approximately 16 mins, and is a great place to get out of the heat or rain. Especially if you just want to get off your feet for a while.
You can also bring a snack in to enjoy while watching the show. Perfect time to grab that Dole whip.
It’s likely you will be humming ‘tiki tiki tiki tiki tiki room’ for a good part of the day.
#8. The Great Movie Ride Tribute
While the Great Movie Ride has sadly closed, you can still pay homage to this iconic attraction at Disney’s Hollywood Studios.
Look for a replica of the Chinese Theater’s handprints, located near Mickey and Minnie’s Runaway Railway.
It’s a small but meaningful tribute to the legacy of the Great Movie Ride.
#9. Wilderness Lodge Fire Rock Geyser
Escape to the rustic charm of Disney’s Wilderness Lodge and witness the mesmerizing Fire Rock Geyser.
Every hour, this 120-foot geyser erupts with a powerful display, surrounded by stunning views of Bay Lake.
It’s a hidden gem that combines natural beauty with the magic of Disney.
While I would not suggest making a trek over just for the geyser, if you are staying there or having a meal on property, for sure make the time.
#10. The Morocco Pavilion
Within Epcot’s World Showcase, the Morocco Pavilion offers an immersive experience filled with hidden treasures.
Explore the intricate architecture, meander through labyrinthine streets, and savor authentic Moroccan cuisine.
Don’t forget to keep an eye out for secret pathways and tucked away courtyards.
This is one of my favorite pavilions to visit. It often gets overlooked due to not having a ride or ‘attraction’. But I find the look and feel of the pavilion enough to bring me in each time.

As you plan your next adventure to Walt Disney World, remember to explore beyond the popular attractions and uncover the secret wonders this magical place has to offer.
