Hey travelers! I know it’s still hot outside, the pool’s calling your name, and pumpkin spice feels months away… but in the world of travel, Halloween season is already in full swing! If you're someone who loves thrills, costumes, or spooky snacks, now’s the time to start booking your Halloween adventures — because the best events sell out fast.

As a travel advisor, I’ve already been helping clients plan their fall getaways, especially to the theme park destinations that go all-out for Halloween. Here’s a look at some of the top experiences you can enjoy — and why summer is the perfect time to start planning!

Walt Disney World – Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party

Running select nights as early as August, this family-friendly event at Magic Kingdom is a fan favorite! Think trick-or-treating around the park, the Hocus Pocus Villain Spelltacular, Mickey’s Boo-To-You Parade, and low wait times for popular rides.

💡 Pro tip: These tickets are limited and do sell out for prime October nights, so book early — especially if you're coordinating costumes for the whole family!

Disney Cruise Line – Halloween on the High Seas

Set sail on a Disney cruise and experience Halloween in a whole new way! Disney Cruise Line decks out its ships with spooky decor, character costume parties, themed treats, and even a magical pumpkin tree that "grows" in the atrium.

This seasonal celebration happens on most sailings from mid-September through October — but the most popular itineraries are already filling up!

Universal Orlando – Halloween Horror Nights

Calling all thrill-seekers! Universal’s Halloween Horror Nights (HHN) is legendary — and definitely not for the faint of heart. Featuring haunted houses inspired by horror movies and shows, scare zones, and live performances, this event is a must for adults and teens who love a good fright.

2025 dates start in early September, and this year’s lineup promises to be epic (hint: rumor has it there will be even more houses than before).

Other Notable Halloween Events Across the Country

  • Knott’s Scary Farm (California): One of the longest-running haunted theme park events in the U.S.

  • Busch Gardens Howl-O-Scream (Tampa & Williamsburg): Intense scares, themed bars, and haunted mazes.

  • SeaWorld Spooktacular (Orlando & San Diego): Daytime Halloween fun perfect for little ones.

  • LEGOLAND Brick-or-Treat (Florida & California): Creative costume contests, trick-or-treating, and LEGO-themed Halloween surprises.

Why Book Now?

Even though it’s summer, Halloween events at major parks and cruise lines start as early as mid-August. Hotels closest to the action fill quickly, and special event tickets often sell out weeks or months in advance. Plus, booking early gives you time to plan outfits, snag dining reservations, and get the best deals.

Let’s Get You Boo-ked!

Whether you’re dreaming of a not-so-scary Disney escape or want to scream your way through Universal, I’d love to help you plan the perfect Halloween trip. From tickets and accommodations to tips on avoiding crowds and packing for costume-friendly weather, I’ve got you covered.

Don’t wait for the first leaf to fall — the magic (and mischief) of Halloween starts now.
